Updated: Jan 27
HERstory will be made right before our eyes, as we welcome the first ever female vice president… and she’s Black! On today, January 20, 2021, the United States of America will recognize Kamala Devi Harris as our nation’s vice president for the next four years. This day is so important to our culture and boy are we are truly expecting to see some change.
Our Founder Pekela Riley on meeting Kamala Harris: “She was like a breath of fresh air. A true advocate for change.” On October 19, 2020, Pekela had the honor of introducing our new vice president for a speech at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fl. "What a special, even historic moment this was for me today; to not only meet the kind, cool, first Black woman VP candidate Kamala Harris, but engaging the voting community in this ever so important time." There are many things to admire about our VP and her mission to get America back on track, but one thing for certain that we just cannot ignore, is that her hair is always laid! Listen, somebody had to say it. There’s never a hair out of place, like ever and we STAN!
Here are five times Kamala Harris’ signature wrap gave us life:
"My mother had a saying: Kamala, you may be the first to do many things, but make sure you’re not the last.” - Kamala Harris
We congratulate and support you, VP Kamala Harris. We cannot wait to see how amazing these next four years will turn out under the Biden-Harris administration. Thank you for being the first and working to create room so that you won't be the last.
