Loosing Hair?
Studies show that an estimated 50% of women will experience noticeable hair loss in their lifetime.
Proverbs says that a woman's hair is her "crown of glory," but what happens when your crown starts to fall... literally? Women of all ages suffer from hair loss due to common reasons ranging from hormonal to illness and for some, the reason can be unknown. Losing your hair can have a major impact on life and self-esteem, but there are solutions and True + Pure is here to help. If you find yourself experiencing sudden hair loss, the first thing to do is NOT WORRY! Stressing over this new change will likely lead to making the situation worse. After all, stress-induced hair loss is definitely a thing.
Let's start with your inner health. Whether you want to hear this or not, your diet directly impacts everything, and that definitely includes your hair. Eating well and upping your water intake for internal hydration and blood flow can lead to amazing results. We suggest drinking a 1/2 gallon a day. To go along with that, try taking vitamin supplements specifically for hair growth. Two of our favorites are by Viviscal and The Mane Choice.
You know what else helps when you're dealing with hair loss? Scalp massages! A good scalp massage will stimulate your hair follicles to promote healthy hair growth, plus it's relaxing. You can use a tool specifically for scalp massages, or gently use your fingertips. Take it up a notch by adding a serum or oil designed for hair growth. We suggest the following: Long & Luxe Scalp Serum by As I Am, Kreyòl Essence Black Castor Oil, or 100% Black Castor Oil.
Okay, but I can't walk around looking any kind of way...
We know what you're thinking... there's still the challenge of actually styling your hair. Losing your hair doesn't mean you no longer have the right to feel beautiful and confident with your outer appearance. You have options, Sis! Headwraps are an excellent way to cover and protect your hair and scalp, plus they add flare to your already unique personal style. There are several ways to wear them and you most likely already own the perfect fabric or scarf in your wardrobe to achieve this look. If you don't, or just want to shop for something new, check out Fand Djanm. They offer a wide variety of headwraps, bandanas and other hair accessories. Check out the tutorial below for some inspo!
Another styling option, which is a personal True + Pure favorite, is to simply wear a wig. Wigs offer range, honey! You can literally wear your hair in any shape, style, length, texture or color you desire. Choose wigs that will allow you comfort and aesthetic, like ours. Traditional sew-ins and wigs can cause unnecessary tension, but True + Pure wigs, aka "crowns," offer glue-less support with gentle combs for easy install and accessibility. You won't need to use any adhesive or tape that will only further trigger your hair loss by potentially irritating your hair and scalp. You will instead have easy access to your scalp, so that you can perform that massage and apply those oils we mentioned above. Your scalp will also receive more oxygen, which is very important when treating hair loss. Shop our wig options here, available in six textures.
