How long have you styled Tamron Hall and how did you all connect?
I’ve styled Tamron Hall for 26 years, ever since he met her at a fashion show, when she was an anchor in Chicago and he was an up and coming stylist working out of the salon.
What was the inspiration behind Tamron's hair look for the Daytime Emmys?
For the highly-attended Daytime Emmys red carpet, I wanted Tamron's look to get attention. I wanted to give the cameras something exciting to capture. The red carpet is the time to push the limits, and this was the moment to do it.
We wanted something modern and different, but still very much herself. I choose to use the True + Pure Relaxed Natural Blowout kinky straight texture to create an edgy style for Tamron that would definitely get people talking. I knew this would be something daring that people would either hate or love. And that's exactly what happened - people loved it! I had fun styling her too!
What was the style you created for Tamron Hall using the True + Pure Texture Relaxed Natural Blowout wig and bundles?
I call Tamron’s style a “Pixie Mullet…with a lil edge to it!”
I created this style for Tamron using the True + Pure Texture Relaxed Natural Blowout lace closure wig and Relaxed Natural Blowout textured hair extension wefts (bundles). I used Relaxed Natural kinky straight because I knew it would blend perfectly with Tamron’s own texture. With True + Pure Texture Relaxed Natural Blowout you can blend out and it looks natural and looks like “ours.”
How long did it take to complete her Relaxed Natural pixie mullet style?
A little under 2 hours - and it was done 2 hours before red carpet for the Daytime Emmys.
How did you achieve this Relaxed Natural Blowout edgy pixie mullet style?
First, I shampooed Tamron's hair and used a gel and foam to mold and slick it down. I let that set for about an hour under a portable hood dryer to really get that smooth base.
Next, I worked on constructing the edgy pixie mullet shape. I added the True + Pure Relaxed Natural kinky straight textured hair extensions (bundles) to the Relaxed Natural closure piece to build up the fullness and shape I wanted. Then I took a razor and carefully cut into the textured hair extensions - this took around 15 minutes of precise cutting.
To blend Tamron's natural hair into the Relaxed Natural closure piece, I had a barber come in. I sectioned off the part of her hair that I wanted cut into the mullet shape, which took about 10 minutes.
Finally, I blended the Relaxed Natural closure piece with the extensions seamlessly with Tamron's hair to complete the full pixie mullet silhouette and edgy raw look.
What did Tamron Hall think of the final look when she saw the Relaxed Natural Blowout kinky straight edgy pixie hairstyle?
She absolutely loved it! Tamron felt confident and beautiful rocking her natural texture in a bold way.
I'm thrilled we created a red carpet moment that turned heads, while letting her natural texture and essence shine through.
